Mike Friedrich & Timrobot - Now in 2D
Exhibition at West Berlin Gallery / Berlin
Exhibition at West Berlin Gallery / Berlin
Together with my mate Timrobot we have a running exhibition titled Now in 2D at West Berlin Gallery. We had a nice vernissage at September 30th and the exhibition runsuntil October 30th (Finissage). Thanks to Guillaume, Elodie, Molle,Atti, Chris and all our guests for making this a really nice evening!
The concept:
The 3D trend is rising and everything is jam-packed with 3D effects, new products flood the market everyday, everything gets a 3D facelift. Its like Botox for the media. Even the art world is not safe from thistrend. But do we need all this? Mike Friedrich and Timrobot bothmembers of The World Organisation, a Berlin based art collective- say «NO!» At least not yet.
At the West Berlin Gallery they will show a potpourri ofillustrations and paintings dealing with the 3D theme in a humorous andsatiric way*. Watch as 2D collide when Timrobots cute characters enterMike Friedrichs underworld. Coming from a background of comics,Saturday morning cartoons and a time where 3D was more like blue andred lines than hightech effects, the artists want to set a statementand present their artworks in a maybe not so serious way completelyin 2D.
* Special 2D-glasses will be provided at the Opening at 7pm on the30th of September. The evening will be completed by music and drinks tomake it a date.
See some pic of the design stuff, the opening and the pictures below.
