Equipate UX / UI

UX / UI concept for
an interactive social app.

We host this design project in our internal lab in order to learn from people and sports context and find a nice market fit for this idea in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The problem begins with a real life story:
Lu, our UX intern, wanted to play Basketball outside her official team (UBA). She desires to train without the pressure of competitiveness, just grab the ball one afternoon and have fun with new people in a basketball court. But with whom? How might she find this people in real time, nearby and spontanously?

Secondary problems to adress:
1. There are teams that ends up disolved because members always have to worry about completing the number of players needed to start and finish one game.
2. Some people stops playing their favorite sport when they finish high school. They never found the facilitation they used to have back in school where sports were part of the classes. Now they dont have the space neither the time. They end up going to the gym because of the pressure that "they have to do something anyway" rather the pleasure of playing a sport and making friends with other people.
3. WhatsApp serves okay the need to organize matches but to participate you have to be in someone's mind and in someone's contact list as a player and as an available one. Some people dont try a new sport because their friends dont play that game and they dont know where they can find new people or a completeley new team to learn and play.

Main Solution: what if people could search for team partners and team competitors nearby and in realtime? What if people without a team could search for one and just ask to participate in the next meeting?
An app with social elements and features.

We develop the next things to solve secondary problems:
- Matches and Team Attitude Reviews.
- Event Page where to organice matches and confirm players participation.
- Time and Geographic relative filters for better and faster search results
- Mutual acceptance between profiles ("It's a match!")

What the whole experience could offer to users:
- Social experience with new contacts and friends with common interests.
- Favorite sport training
- Mental and corporal health

The design of the User Experience took us 3 sprints.
Sprint 01
We want to test ways of finding new people, new teams and new matches.
To test our first screens and assumptions we use the free trial version of Axure. Here you can see some match organization screens.
We test this flow and from this first session we were able to learn a lot to keep pushing our solution. Time to analyze, and host a second sprint.
Sprint 02
Explorations
We grab paper, rubber and pencil to start thinking about profile and search features (like a filter).
Information Arquitecture
From this (Sprint 01):
To this (Sprint 03):
Main menu (orange when selected) + in app logo + filter icon:
UI Design and Content Design (Sprint 03)
We choose Material Components for Android for making UI app concept based in some of its Design Patterns.

And we use personlized Icons for different types of courts made by Tefi Machi.
Lucía Lanziano made this animations to help us visualize the player's search concept.
So we came to this:
Wireframe / High Fi.
The main concept was defined so we keep designing the rest of the screens based in our paper prototype and Floren's content exploration: what type of information is fundamental for the user to decide wether or not to interact in the app and practice his favorite sport?
If we think in a match like we think an event, in order to attend, we need to know:
- Location
- Experience
- Age
- Sports available
- How much players each match need?
- What else do they need?
- What can I bring to the match in order to make it better? water? ball? first aid kit?
- Schedules
- Who organice the match
Search
Flow quiero jugar
Filters
Final presentation.
Landing Page concept to promote discovery and early adoption.
Research
We host a private Facebook Group with 6 potentially early adopters of the idea and the app. We run research and user experience testing sessions with them in order to learn from their desires and pain points, iterate sprints and deliver better results for all.
