Guangzhou x Singapore Installation (听见 / To Listen)
It was a final year project where we have a collaboration with the students in Guangzhou Academic Of Fine Arts. Each team consists of 6 people, 3 from Singapore and 3 from Guangzhou. Our theme for this year was Guangzhou x Singapore x Me for our installation with each team having a topic to work around. My team was given environment and sounds.
Our installation is a big long rectangle with 3 cubes inside it, where users can put in their head to listen to sounds from Guangzhou and Singapore by tilting their heads to the left or right, they can hear sounds from the MRT, News Station and hawker centre.
The sounds are triggered when a head is detected at a certain spot by the ultrasonic sensor which will then send a signal to the MP3 module player to play the sounds.While the background, we are showing the environment of both Singapore and Guangzhou through animation that are drawn by us.
