2015 National Express West Midlands - rebrand

National Express West Midlands 2015: A new brand identity
One of my biggest projects working for National Express West Midlands was the design of the 2015 vehicle brand identity.  Unlike the branding it replaced it was designed so it gave a warm and friendly image and also solved many operational issues such as cleaning, repair and on board promotion.  Working closely with the marketing manager we designed the exterior and interior branding.  We even designed a new floor and I worked closely with the fabric supplier to create a warmer evolution of our previous interior.

I was responsible for
Exterior:
Livery design, promo design, route branding design, vinyl design and print preparation, paint diagrams, vinyl fitting diagrams and legal kits.

Interior:
Fabric design, floor pattern design, interior molding colour palette, side laminate choice, customer stickers design and overall wholistic look design.

Design process:
Research.  Design brief and specification creation.  Design concepts and development.  Photoshop and CAD renders.  Working with internal stakeholders in marketing, management and engineering.  Developing the design with suppliers.

Marketing:
Creative for launch advertising and door drops and on bus route branding design.

Below are some photos of the new identity and The Beauty of Transport has a nice article on how it came to be...

I did CAD renders of the interior to get a better idea of what they would look like with the different materials before ordering the vehicles

The branding was also designed to work on existing vehicles in the fleet as part of a repaint plan.
