For my third year dissertation, I wrote about the language used in maps and how this transcends into modern mapping techniques. Following the example of designer Stefanie Posavec, who I referenced in the dissertation, I created visuals for my title page, bibliography and chapter headings.
Using the word count from each of my four chapters, I worked out their percentage and used Illustrator to show this comparison using simple circles. The colours used reflect the colours used in classic landscape maps to represent contours, landmarks, grasslands and water. The acknowledgements, abstract, chapter list, critical literature review and research methods are not included in the illustrations.Using the word count from each of my four chapters, I worked out their percentage and used Illustrator to show this comparison using simple circles.
