C O N J O I N E D

The visual design of this series was inspired by the designer’s concept. Starting with the draft design, I tried to present each look at the most appropriate body of the designer’s vision. To create this surreal image, simplified the set design, and selected two similar models to create unique and interrelated body structure. In the photo of the couple, the two bodies are organically linked to highlight the uniqueness of each look and the integrity of the entire collection.

The designer, Tan Wenqian started her research with conjoined twins, the uniqueness of their conjoined body inspired her. This collection considers garment as a living creature and trying to explore the abnormalities of physiological development that clothing can appear as a unique life form.
What will it looks like if a single fertilized egg of garment does not fully split during the process of forming identical twins?
What does a long, long-armed person wear?
Where does she put the extra arms and legs?
What if a person has four arms and three legs?
This is a highly unstable garment. Sometimes it is stretched and sometimes shortened.
What is invisible to the naked eye does not mean that it does not exist.
Can these four people be friends?
Instability is contagious.
More sleeves are growing out.
