After School (+Process)

I made a cover illustration for an imaginary novel about 'love triangle'.
Line drawing.
Value study. Though this was an imaginary cover illustration, I created a wide space in the left half area so that the title would fit nicely.
I picked up three colors(light, middle, and dark). When I can't decide which color to use, I flip through 'Perfect Palette' (Amazon) and always succeed in finding a favorite palette.
I made some new colors from three by mixing each other, changing intensity, or adding darkness, etc, but too much change could ruin the whole color relationship, so I made each color with great care.
I divided the canvas into three value zones and filled each zone with each color group.
Like this.
OK, now it's time to start painting.
What!? It's almost done... Sorry I forgot to save some processes...
I painted all over the canvas little by little to keep the whole composition beautiful.
Now it's done. I added some vivid red to emphasize her jealousy.
Yellow was also nice.
There is always a risk in using too many colors, but i think if you keep them in the certain value zone, the painting will not be messy.
So...that's all. Thank you for reading!!
In the end, I want to tell you what I like about this painting.

- Reflected light of the floor
- Cool blue of the fluorescent lamp
- Simplified hands
- Transparent glasses
- Sunlight seen through the gap of the bookshelf
