This Pistol first came to my attention when I saw it in the film Public Enemies, the gun was held by the character 'Red'. Thinking it looked like a stylish pistol I researched further to find it was designed/patented in 1897 by Colt. I was interested at how early the gun was designed, prior to this guns were cylinder loaded and held 6 bullets (which was usually 5, as the hammer rested on an empty chamber). Then a massive innovation occurred, where the gun was able to be loaded in magazines, fire, eject a spent casing, reload the next round, all in a single action. And this gun was one of the first of this new generation, a technology that has persisted over a century, more or less un-changed.

This was a personally instigated project, to practise new techniques as well as solidify the ones I currently have.
