Garden Landscapes
A collection of landscape pictures from our portfolio
Lewis Landscapes has been designing and developing gardens in our region, (Victoria-Gulf Islands), for 19 years. The following is a short review of some of our projects..
After three years the plants have become established in this small courtyard garden of paving and ponds. The Vine Maple andAsh are beginning to show off their fall colours.
A view from above with the shallow water feature wrapped around existing rocks.
A garden renovation project, replacing decks with stepping stone paths and lush planting  schemes.
Looking back to the front entrance and the main path.
A ''river' of red grasses 'flow' by the Maple.
The garden oven is a Tuscan style wood fired oven that provides a focus for the patio area. Stone walls frame the oven and provide a raised bed with Roses, Herbs, Olive and Fig. The border is Golden Oregano.
The garden oven in action, waiting for the fire to burn down. The Neapolitan style pizza will cook on the hot hearth, (750F), for about 90 seconds.
The finished pizza! The wood fired oven also roasts tomatoes, chicken, fish, bakes hearth breads, stews, beans, even granola! A wonderful way to combine a love of gardens with a passion for outstanding food, to share with family and friends.
Growing our own food is better than mowing lawns; more fun and healthier too. This garden is packing a lot of food into a small area; January King cabbage, green onions, fennel, celery and parsley.
This project involved the construction of a dry stack stone retaining wall and tennis court. The wall material is local sandstone, stacked by excavator, 240' long and up to 18' high.
Paving with 2x2' patio pavers provides a simple, elegant surface that does not distract from the view.
A curved patio next to the pond.
A simple dry stack stone wall with steps built in.
Lush plants provide a cool setting around this small pool.
A wide walk with stone steps to the front entrance. The plants have to be drought and deer tolerant; herbs, grasses and Pines.
More drought and deer tolerant plants, Thyme, Box and Berberis.
A paved courtyard, with interlocking circles and running bond.
A pergola and gate frames the path and raised beds to this courtyard garden.
Sandstone steps and Snowy Woodrush.
A Thyme lawn, drought tolerant borders and brick lined clam shell paths.
Custom built hot tub and swimming pool.
A simple dry stack wall using local stone.
Inspiration and respect for our greater landscape helps guide our work.
