San Francisco will be hosting the 34th America's Cup in the summer of 2013. To create buzz throughout the Bay Area, a campaign was created to educate people about America's Cup  and their mission to preserve the environment.
Topics of Conversation

Four topics powered the campaign and were showcased on the home page. Professionals related to each topic provided their opinions and sparked conversations among the general public through Facebook, Twitter and Disqus.

Doors

Each topic related to different parts of the Bay Area with very different subjects. In an original idea for the home page, doors to different topics were plotted on an interactive map of San Francisco provided through Google Maps' API. This provided a better visual of San Francisco, but as more features were added to the home page, a more traditional layout was settled upon instead.

The icons created for the doors were used in the navigation and the background map was adapted on the official America's Cup site.

Latest Discussions

Each topic page pulled content through API requests from various services. Videos came from YouTube. Latest tweets came from Twitter. Recent comments and trending topics came from Disqus. These pages acted as a hub for information and discussions.
