Gud Rang
"Gud is from gudla,
an urdu word which means opaque."

by Naveed Sadiq
Lahore, Pakistan.

These works were produced in response to my class assignment, during my major discipline at National College of Arts Lahore Pakistan, in 2004-2006.

My first exposure to any sort of formal art was at Khana-e-Farhang, Iranian cultural centre in Hyderabad, Pakistan, where I experienced drawing, oil paint on canvas and sculpture. This led to an awareness of a degree in Fine Arts and of its possibilities. My tutor and mentor Ali Abbass (Water colourist) directed me towards NCA, where I was drawn towards miniature painting as a medium to work in. The patience, finesse, discipline and mannerism that the medium demands seemed to be the expression of my being.

Indo-Persian miniature paintings, through these practice paintings I have absorbed numerous traditional practice, within several schools of miniature painting.
