Urban information jungle

Third Year architectural design studio project

2012 / Lisbon
As humanity reached information age, former main information & knowledge tools -libraries- lost their main purpose.
The Internet is now the library of the past.
As a result, the primary roles of today’s physical libraries have slightly shifted.
Communal aspects of interaction, information and dissemination now represent the core missions of the library while information is easily achievable.
The project designed as a part of master plan proposed in previous semester.
Serial diagrams revealing structural composition
It has been avoided to assign too much defined functions to spaces except service zones.
Thus users can benefit from building more and adapt & organize spaces for themselves.
This way, flexible spaces can emerge within usage as well.
A sketch and an interior view of a tunnel that connects two main volumes.
Instead of composing a user directing organization in building, It has been tried to create an open and diverse spatial frame.
This would allow users to benefit from the building more personally.
For example: There are lots of ways to enter building and to get from a specific point to another.
