Text and chart heavy document design for the Southend-on-Sea Borough Council Department of Public Health.

The challenge was to create an engaging and vibrant document from a heavy and sombre source text. I worked with the Council's media department to go through the content and pick out key phrases and paragraphs to either illustrate with photos or use in 'did you know' pull quotes.

I used a simple 6 column grid to give a flexible working area for the main text and charts, whilst retaining a colourful outer column for pull quotes. Sections are broken using vibrant full page imagery. I also developed identifying icons for each section.

Due to the scope of the annual report, this is usually published at least a year later than the date referred year - this report was eventually published in 2018.
