Oxfam: We Are Congo

Editorial
I was commissioned by the UK’s leading charity fighting global poverty; Oxfam and renowned celebrity photographer Rankin to design and art direct a book featuring the portraits and harrowing stories of individuals living in Congo. The project gained international exposure and is continuing to benefit the area. The aim of the project was to humanize a conflict that is so often seen from a detached and objective stance. Proceeds from book sales were re–invested in the area. The book was launched and supported by an exhibition at the National Theatre in London and received press in major newspapers and magazines.

The images focus on the love and solidarity found in the midst of one of the worlds worst conflict zones. There are images and stories exploring romantic love, love lost, mother’s love and the kindness of strangers, as well as photos taken by Congolses villagers with Rankin’s guidance, providing an extrodinary insight into their everyday life. We are Congo book launch and exhibition was held at The National Theatre, London.
