Postage Illustration

As an avid letter writer and snail mail enthusiast, this project allowed me to delve into an area that I normally don't get an opinion in. My fine art background has made me some what of a "stationary snob" and I'm quite particular about what my friends and family receive from me in the mail. So when it comes time to seal it up and send it on it's way, finding a well designed stamp to bring life to my envelope is, well;
let's be real, it's a challenge.
Bringing these stamps to life was a lesson of both color and scale. It's easy to create bold shape and color at a large scale, but the challenge comes in keeping those elements of structure and clarity strong when scaled down to actual postage size.

These stamps illustrate the delicate simplicity of florals but amidst a stark black background, the details and rigid structures really come to life. These bold beauties could decorate my snail mail any day!
