modern adaptation Typography Project

While taking courses to complete my minor in graphic design at George Mason University, I took an intro-level typography class. As our final assignment, we were instructed to take a style of typography from a different era, and adapt it to a modern theme. Here I chose to take an old 80s themed VHS tape cover design, and adapt it to a modern film. The film I chose to create the cover for was Black Panther.
In this composition, I made sure to create an effective hierarchy for the film's cover. This was all done while incorporating the classic and iconic styles of type which were common on VHS tape covers during the 80s and 90s. I also made sure to add in many little details to replicate an authentic-looking VHS cover. Enjoy!
