Jules et Jim
Jannuary 2009

How do you represent one of the most famous love triangles in cinematic history? Jules, Jim and, of course, Chaterine, reinterpreted by the three actors, are photographed while observing themselves.
There are fourteen images each, as many as the key moments of the film, which are described at the bottom of the map identifying the degree of involvement, type of feeling, distance, status and highlights.
The three subjects are asked simply to change the direction of the look, then the photos are composed and finally translated onto the horizontal axis.
Chaterine, the central figure of the triangle, strongly influences the man with her behaviour for this is shown with a extreme close up on the eyes; instead Jules and Jim, portrayed with a close-up, show with the movement in the background and the rotation of heads for two different behaviour.
Jules, is always tied to Chaterine, without reaching a complete involvement, Jim contrarily, goes from moments of indifference to others to overwhelming love.
The result of this modulation are three new images, perhaps the portraits of their love.
