On The Screen - Smart Albums

Using Smart Albums
During our first lesson for 'On The Screen' we learnt slightly more in depth of how to use capture for organising images by using star ratings, colour tags and smart albums.

Throughout last term I had started to get used to using colour tags and star ratings to organise and narrow down work; especially with the Taylor Wessing shoot.
I had never used smart albums before and had absolutely no idea how to set them up and use them.

For our first task after week 1 we had to use smart albums, colour tags and star ratings to whittle down images from a collection we already had and then upload the image that we thought was best on to padlet.
I decided to use a collection of photos of my family Christmas walk 2018, I had already star rated them for when I had been sorting through to send to family and put online.
What I hadn't done as I wasn't sure how to do it was organise them using smart filters, so for week 1 home task I learnt how to use them.

When creating albums in capture to help organise work I first needed to click on the tab called session albums, there I found a plus button to the side which had the option to create a new album or a smart album
Once I had clicked on that it came up with a window showing this, I renamed the folder to 4 stars as that was the highest rating I had given my images in this shoot.
When I clicked okay I realised that I hadn't done it correctly as nothing changed and all my images where were they had been originally
I went back to edit the criteria and found that I had chosen the wrong formula for what I wanted it to do.
After realising what I had done wrong I corrected myself and it worked putting all of the four star images into the folder, which I then chose the final one that I uploaded on to padlet.
