Afloat is a short, silent graphic novel that aims to re-imagine and re-image the way spatial experience of a place is documented. Unconventional in its form, this zine is an attempt to capture the multiplicity and simultaneity of activity in a fish market along the South-Western coast of the Indian subcontinent through illustration and narrative techniques.

(This book was the culminating output of my seventh semester, the result of a four month long research project, the aim of which was to develop alternate ways of documenting local knowledge.)

The book takes the form of a foldable zine.

The following pages from my pre-thesis documentation booklet outline the process and ideas that went into Afloat.
