The City of Dubai on the Persian Gulf coast of the United Arab Emirates reached out to Eric Jordan to develop a series of visual design concepts to be projected and animated on the exterior of the 2,717 foot tall Burj Khalifa tower (one of the world's tallest skyscrapers) for Dubai's 2019 New Years Eve celebration show. Over the course of 4 weeks a series of pitch concepts were created for the animated NYE countdown animation, including over 90 visual layouts, 3D structures, messaging screens, and light patterns to help the engineers construct the look of the show. The massive show incorporates lights, lasers, fireworks, synchronized water fountains, and massive visual 830 meter (2,717 ft) tall projections across the exterior of the skyscraper, with an estimated 2 million people in attendance.

“Alchemy of the City” is a journey through the rise of a city through the lens of the 4 classical elements - water, fire, earth, air - and their alchemical influence. The 4 elements explain the nature and complexity of all matter in terms of simpler substances. Dubai-centric iconography drives the story through each of the 4 alchemical transformations that bring about the rise of the city.
During the Islamic Golden Age, medieval middle eastern scientists used practical, experimental observation to classify materials.The elemental system used in Medieval alchemy was developed primarily by the Arab alchemist Jābir ibn Hayyān. His system consisted of the four classical elements of air, earth, fire, and water. They were seen by early alchemists as idealised expressions of irreducible components of the universe and are of larger consideration within philosophical alchemy.
"The Geometry Of Dubai"
A collection of dynamic geometric transformations that represent the rise of a dynamic city and the way in which it evolves over time through construction, patterns, golden ratios and sacred geometry. This animation will explore the intersection of evolving structures, dynamic matrices, and geometric patterns set against a backdrop of Dubai-centric iconography.
