Ways of Seeing
Someone asked a homeless man on the street what the worst part about being homeless is, and he replied, “No one sees me.” Homeless people go unseen everyday on the street no matter who they are and who they were before. This is a campaign project to reveal unheard stories from the homeless and to raise awareness on how stereotyping can keep us from seeing the full picture.
We first started with visiting Apostles Soup Kitchen in NYC, and interviewed the homeless and heard their unexpected life's stories. Then, we transcribed their stories into patterns by hiding true facts about them to show how stereotypes block our sights to view them as an equal human being.
