Cantrip (aka. One Spell Mage)
Cantrip (AKA One Spell Mage) was a project made by me and another friend at GDP, a game developing group from UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) that never got made for a myriad of misfortunes.
I got into the project in order to learn more about making pixel art, but a lack of direction, a lot of programmers giving up of the project time after time and focus on other side projects rendered Cantrip a swift end, leaving behind a couple of arts.
But first, a bit of context
Cantrip was a rogue-like dungeon-crawler in which you would control a mighty wizard in his endless quest after the power of the Philosopher's Stone, a marvelous item that would reshape its own lair try after try to prevent thieves and power-hungry wizards from getting it.
The main gimmick is that the Philosopher's Stone would be placed on top of a tower, and the player would be free to create one single spell it would be able to use per floor. The spells would be controlled by three sliders and can fall into four categories: beams, projectiles, AoE projectiles and traps, each one changing the way the spell would behave.
What remains of Cantrip
This charming fellow is the player's almighty wizard in his journey after the Philosopher's Stone.
This mean-looking gelatinous monstrosity is the first enemy in the way of the wizard: the slime. It would behave mostly like canon-fodder, throwing itself on the player and trying to win it over by numeric superiority. Not exactly bright nor tough.
Magical flaming locks, because it's better safe than sorry.
