F-35 Lightning II, The Joint Strike Fighter

For 11 years I've acted as the Senior Multimedia & Graphics Designer at the Department of Defense's $54B jet fighter development program, the
F-35 Lightning II (also know as the Joint Strike Fighter). In my role I have designed and maintained program brand elements which have traveled the globe. Design elements from my campaigns have been seen in Congress, on the desktops of Foreign Leaders, and on the side of jets flying faster than the speed of sound. While a majority of what I do remains classified, below are a few publicly releasable samples of what I've been doing with myself for the past decade.
BELOW: The draft redesign to the public website attempts to bring more of what the users are looking for to the home page thus minimizing the number of clicks required while simultaneously updating the look of the site to a more contemporary design.
A program's brand identity is often as important on the inside as it is on the outside. In addition to building and maintaining the brand for the F-35 program's public website, the Multimedia & Graphics Team established a brand for use in day to day operations.

In the Information Technology area different teams were assigned colors which when added to a signature block of an e-mail instantly provided insight as to which team within the IT organization the user was working with.
In addition to crafting the brand for the IT Support team one thing Multimedia & Graphics did is author and distribute newsletters and bulletins to keep the user community up to speed on outages, policy changes, and general security concerns.
As an Internationally tied program we support personnel from 3 U.S. services and 8 partner countries. The above print was designed to celebrate the accomplishments of departing F-35 program personnel from the United Kingdom's Royal Air Force. In gray-scale and miniature are images of the first generation Lightning aircraft. Enlarged is a model of the fifth generation aircraft dubbed the F-35 Lightning II.
Being a designer for the DoD often means that you are asked to show everything all at once and somehow make it aesthetic. Above is a farewell image design wherein I was asked to show global aspects of the program, different stages of production, and 3 variants of the jet...and whatever was designed was intended to be something that someone would want to frame and keep above their desk for years to come.

Sometimes you win the argument against...sometimes you gotta do what the boss asks for.
Above is just a taste of what I've been up to...
expect more to follow in the near future.
