Feminist Book Series
To promote feminism three books about the experience of Bell Hooks were chosen to make a series and they required book jackets and protective container. The issue of feminism is currently attracting global attention but it is not exclusively for and about women, yet it is difficult to get men and children directly involved in activism. Hooks as a writer encourages readers to see how feminism can touch and change their own lives.
The concept statement is "We can go higher". So, all book covers depict a giant woman going to a high place. A giant woman represents strength and independence. To convey this, the book jackets are covered with illustrations in warm colors of cute characters so that anyone could easily accept the serious issue of feminism. Each cover is symbolic of the overall intent and narrative of the book. In this container box, fists are symbolically used on behalf of feminist women, indicating that women’s strength increases through the experiences of the writer. And the two fists are facing at each other, which means that women can combine their power to do everything.
