The brief was to create a more exciting and educational environment for a wide age range of children. The designs needed to be bright and interesting with a focus on the bilingual language which is a priority for the nursery.
The Lego inspired wall is to learn about shapes with the bright primary colours used to catch the eye. The shapes are stood off from the wall to give depth to the design to make it more appealing then just a flat printed wall piece. The names of the shapes were added underneath each shape using a bold font in both Welsh and English. To continue the Lego block theme the draws were wrapped in coloured vinyl with a printed acrylic top to look like the top of the bricks.
Next there is a busy classroom scene, this was designed as an interactive all where the children have to find the objects presented around the edge of the wall within the scene. This design was made with bright colours and the bilingual language for each object.
The sporting wall of fame focuses on famous welsh sportsmen and women. With the recent popularity with the success of Geraint Thomas, the welsh professional racing cyclist, he was the main focus of this design. Other athletes were then added to celebrate rugby and football which are two main sports in wales along with judo and swimming.
The map of the world is a large colourful map with icons of interesting places from around the world and flags.On the desk top is a quiz with questions that refer to the map above and underneath is a coral reef image with blue down lighting to make it look like it is underwater.
The solar system wall has large images of the planets with fun facts. The planets are in bright vibrant colours to stand out against the dark black and blues of the galaxy behind. In between this information is classic Star Wars characters to make it more appealing to a younger audience. The characters are dotted around the scene to draw attention to different information points.
