Mucus is my second poetry zine. It contains a collection of thirteen poems I wrote from 2015 to 2018, in the form of a vinyl LP concept holding recordings of my voice reciting the poems, and an assortment of lofi musical experimentations.
Mucus is about Ayzaltus Salbalanjo the Protecthealer, a dual ghost/spirit, that has been following me in my dreams ever since I learned that my mother has had a miscarriage after I was born.
My little sibling is in my mind happy as a spirit in the forest taking the bodies of those who venture into the woods for a bit, but it's not evil, it's in order to protect them from the beasts that hide in the shadows. Ayzaltus Salbalanjo is on the dark side also a gang leader and drug dealer, repping face tattoos and golden grillz somewhere in sunny LA suburbs, trying to find love like any millennial.
