Oricoffee Packaging

The main subject of this short exercise was to create and design products according to some proposed criteria. The designer should choose a product (rice, sugar or coffee), and create a completely new packaging and make it more functional, more ethical and more eco-responsible. Through the lateral thinking of Edward de Bono, a technique that allows the resolution of problems in an indirect way and with a creative approach, a new way of working both conceptually and creatively arises. During the realization of this project all the parameters imposed where taking into account, always respecting design standards and originality. In the first place, the product chosen was coffee because of the variations that this product can give, and the opportunities to expand. In addition, it's a very consumed product in Portugal (would say it's the first one), so it's also a very personal project because of the roots and customs related to it and the challenge of being able to convey those feelings through packaging.

As the project evolved and a lot of sketching was made, it was time to take into consideration some of the things that would make a good brand, which is variety, so instead of making just one product, it should have its variations of taste and type. These variations where inspired by Deltas coffee brand.

The main concept as well, was origami, so instead of making regular coffee, the innovating part of it, was making a tea bag, with the shape of origami, and instead of tea, putting coffee inside. Once the tea bag goes into the hot cup of coffee, an origami flower blooms inside, making the art of drinking coffee more enthusiast.
