Self Promotional Branding: Design Ware

The brief is to conceptualise a corporate identity system to promote yourself as a graphic designer. To create a “brand” which you can utilise optimally to promote your skills to different types of agencies or as a freelance graphic designer. 
Strategy - As a graphic designer I would like to think that the work and content I design has value and quality. As a designer I have many skills and the knowledge to create something of quality. For my self-promo I would like to brand myself as a designer that creates quality designs, and also as a designer with the various skills needed to create a wide variety of creative designs. 
Concept: Designers quality - This concept is based on the idea of making the association between material/design tools and graphic design. When looking at material like a fabric, one can see and feel if it is of good quality. That is the same idea I want to convey when someone is looking at my designs. The concept aim is to brand myself as a designer that provides the material and tools, design tools (hardware) and software (design programs), to create quality work. With this in mind my self-promo name is Designware. Tagline – Equipped for creative quality.

The look and feel for this project is based on the everyday tools that designers. I used icons found in the design software and created patterns from them. The patterns relate to the idea of material, and I compared my design skills to some of the icons/ tools that you use in the design software. The tone of voice is direct and playful.

My self-promo includes business cards, letterheads, promotional posters for clients, a self-promotional that promotes me as a designer, an email tag and a direct mail. The business cards have material tags on the side. The material adds to the idea that design can also be tactile. My direct mail is a small tool kit which includes the right material to create quality designs. The tools are the physical icons and each one describes my skill as a designer.

The call to action for my self-promo is for future employers to visit my online portfolio and hire me to become part of their company.
