CHILDREN PICTURESBOOK DESIGN
Illustrations are, for children, a simple, understandable mode of communication that plays an important educational and formative role. The aim of this paper is to define the theoretical and practical aspects of books and education for children, with the objective of analysing the expressive and comunicative aspects of visual products destined for children. Following the theoretical part of this research is an illustrated children's book project, based on the fairytale La gatta Cenerentola, by Giambattista Basile. The aim is not to rewrite Cinderella but to update it, making it less a fairytale and more current, closer to what a child would imagine, underlining the extraordinary aspects of the tale.
