Re-branding and packaging project for Elysian Coffee Roasters. The client was using and liked a logo which had been generated from a free online service. However, he only had access to one jpeg file of the online-generated logo and felt he didn't know how to present his brand in a cohesive way. Particularly, he felt his packaging was confusing for customers as there was no easy way to distinguish one variety of coffee from another. Free the Robot Creative was able to tweak his original logo and create a new wordmark which would allow him to apply the logo in a variety of applications. We also designed an entirely new package for the coffee featuring custom illustrations.
Elysian Coffee Roasters sources its beans from a variety of coffee producing countries. To make the single origin varieties more easily discernible, each country was given its own color and custom illustration. These illustrations were inspired by the indigenous art and textiles of the respective countries. Overall, this gives the brand an adventurous, exotic and jungly feel and showcases the relationship to coffee varieties have to their respective sources. This adventurous feel is reinforced through the gritty texture everything was given and the use of bold, jewel-toned colors.
Elysian is an incredible company that aims to source and sell the most fairly traded coffee available. What sets them apart is their involvement in the communities where they source and sell their coffee. They are actively fighting malnutrition and investing their resources in long-term economic development programs for their source countries. You can check them out at www.ElysianRoasters.com.
