광주극장
광주극장은 국내에 유일하게 남아 있는 단관극장, 즉 스크린 한 개만 갖춘 극장입니다. 광주극장은 1935년에 설립되어 일제강점기 식민지 조선인들의 소통과 공론의 장소 역할을 하였습니다. 광주극장은 자율적이고 독립적인 극장 운영을 위해 영화진흥위원회의 지원을 거부하고, 2016년부터 후원 회원제 방식으로 운영하면서 지역의 커뮤니티로서 모범을 제시하고 있습니다. 멀티플렉스 시대에 맞서 다양성 문화를 지키고, 관객과 가깝게 소통하는 것이 광주극장의 방식입니다.
CINEMA GWANGJU
Gwangjugeukjang is the only one remaining theater in the country with only one screen. Founded in 1935, Gwangjugeukjang was site of Korean for communicating each other when the Japapnese colonial era. Gwangjugeukjang rejected the support of the Korea Film Council for autonomous and independent theater operation, and has set an example as a community by operating the theater on a sponsored membership system starting in 2016. Against the multiplex cinema, Gwangjugeukjang is keeping diversity culture and communicating with its audiences, and continuing its spirit.
