Initial ideas, trying different styles, poses and expressions. I chose the third option because I felt it was the one with a more familiar look to it, I still liked the other ones, but I thought they were better suited for a comic book or cartoon character.

With that style direction in mind I continue by cleaning up the image, make little changes and adding details.

Idea discarded for simplicity's sake. By adding the greenish fire perhaps the character gained more personality but, it was losing composition and the elements were getting too piled up.
