The Flying Scotsman

The Flying Scotsman is a Pacific steam locomotive built in 1923 for the London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) at Doncaster Works to a design of Nigel Gresley. Named in tribute to the train service between Edinburgh and London famous to Victorians as the Flying Scotsman, it was one of the first trains to officially go beyond 100mph - the first to do so in the United Kingdom.

Arguably one of the most famous trains in the world, it came back into brief service in 2016, after an extensive refurbishment, to tour the UK once again.
