Redesigning a Book Jacket

For this project, we were asked to create three different designs for one book of our choice. I chose Junot Diaz's novel, "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao." We then sketched and refined dozens of jackets until we settled on our best three, which are showcased below.
“The book designer’s responsibility is three-fold: to the reader, to the publisher and most of all, to the author.” –Chip Kidd
The final three designs, mocked up.
Full Spread, layed flat. Hand-made cover, cut out of a comic strip. (Helvetica Neue Bold)
Another cut-out I did, this is one is on the reverse side of the book jacket.
Process book.
