THE FIRENZE PROJECT
Florence, Italy has always been my biggest inspiration for design. After studying abroad in 2012 at the Scuola Lorenzo De Medici (Marist College) in Firenze, I wanted to find a way to capture my memories of the streets of Florence. During my four month stay I had taken hundreds upon hundreds of photos of the architecture, fashion and gorgeous monuments. I decided to take some of my best memories of Florence and sketch them onto paper. This is an on-going project that I work on a regular basis.
My best and most favorite memory of all - the sight of the Duomo never ceases to amaze me. It is the heart of Firenze, as long as you can see the Duomo, you will never get lost in Florence.
The most romantic and gorgeous bridge I have ever been on in my entire life - the Ponte Vecchio. Filled to the brim with gold and jewels, I would spend my days venturing across it to find new adventure.
The carousel in Piazza De Republica is one of my favorite destinations because it holds so much history and stands tall in the center of my favorite Firenze piazza.
Sunsets in Firenze are my favorite, especially when you get to experience them from special locations like on Ponte Vecchio or Piazzale Michelangelo.
Fashion and Firenze go hand in hand. Walk the streets of Florence and the stores are always filled with Europe's top new looks and styles.
Palazzo Vecchio is yet another inspiring square in Firenze that beholds the historic sculpture of the David.
As you can tell, Ponte Vecchio inspires me immensely. I could spend hours just browsing through the rich cameos, shining gold and silver coins in the store windows.
The Duomo stands bright and tall in the heart of Firenze. It's presence is not missed with it's beautiful architectural qualities.
While I was abroad in Firenze, I had the amazing opportunity to take an in-depth jewelry-making class with 12 other girls. For five hours each week, we would spend our afternoons learning how to set stones, solder silver, create wax molds and more!
Italy has always been known for it's gorgeous ironwork. I remember I took this picture across the Ponte Vecchio bridge, on the other side of Florence. I thought the hearts in the ironwork were totally romantic and a sight to see!
I hope you enjoy my memories of Firenze, I will continue to upload more as I go! Please let me know what you think, I would love to hear feedback and thoughts. Do you have favorite memories of Firenze that you would like to share?
