NON-STOP EXHIBITION
For this project in Antalya – Akdeniz University Campus – on the demands of Sculpture Department, we had to design a complex of different functions. The project title is chosen as “a series of workshops that students will use, a couple of classrooms, offices for management, and a modern art museum. ”
For the concept of design the functions are examined and the whole complex in total considered as a stage with its back and front.
The workshops, offices and the clasrooms are the places that the art is taught and the work of arts are made – BACKSTAGE.
And the modern art museum is the place that the art is exhibited. – FRONTSTAGE.
The functions are connected to each other with an inner garden that includes the restaurant and the opened exhibition area. This special point is the intersection between all fo the functions and the one of the main figures of this project – the ramp – takes places in the sloppy area also to connect the different levels.
In this sloping plot the topography also has been a major design factor for the concept. As the pieces of building sit on the different levels of topography it also gives us the other slogan of this project – STAIRS OF ART – the stairs leads us from the art to the source of art ( Workshops ).
The figure that gives the main concept idea of this project is the RAMP that connects the exhibition levels as the exhibition continues on the ramp itself.
