The  Pavilion

The installation will host the pictures of  forgotten pin-ups and it is meant to rapresent itself a monument to women, declaring the preciousness and the beauty of women, no matter if they became celebrities or not.
The main element is a golden spiral, which, opening into space like a roll of film offers to the visitors the vision of the pictures of those beautiful women, by hanging poster or hosting projections.
Such a singular shape offers the chance to look at the photographs in an almost private context; while the spirals shrinks up, the visitor needs to stop or to walk slowly and pay more attention. This spiral is surrounded by a brass grid for hanging frames, meant to rapresent the golden cage of the stardom.

The massive presence of curtains and drapery gives to the rooms a more intimate and dark attitude, letting shine the brass element into penumbra.
Both the reference to film roll, and to fabrics are a way to recall the main sponsors of this exhibition, the Fashion Research Italy and the Cineteca di Bologna, enlighting the close contact between feminity, fashion and visual arts.

Same Material, Same Element

Structures, frames, panels, everything will be made of brass, giving to the plain space of the entrance of Fashion Research Italy a shiny yet warm attitutude.
Tubolar elements are going to shape both the spiral and the grids between the pillars.
This material choice is made in order bring to life the images  of the women portrayed in an enriched space, letting the visitor consider the pictures exposed and projected not only as a black and white memory of a lost beauty, but as a current celebration of  the everlasting  strenght and courage of women.

Backdrop Area

The most peripherical project area  is setted with a multimedial and “social” space.
Through the installation of a backdrop and studio lights (and also old cameras) is both recreated the settings where those pictures were taken. In addition to it there is the possibility for the visitor to take pictures of themselves, enjoying projection of other pictures or old clips about the pin-up era in Italy.
