The residential caves of Khndzoresk Armenia
Like old Goris, the people of Khndzoresk lived until the 1950´s in natural and man-made caves. Some of the caves are still in use, at least the ones that are easily accessible as stable and storage places. There were just a few structures not made in the rock, such as the church, which one can visit. To get there one has to cross the "swinging bridge" across the gorge, so not ideal for people with fears of height. But well worth it! The gorge landscape is spectacular, and parts of the time the landscape looks a little bit like a small Cappadocië.
