Expressed by the poem of Meriggiare Pallido e Assorto of Eugenio Montale
THE BRIEF: TRASPOSITION
For a project at my University, I had to TRASPOSE a concept or a poem graphically and printable multiply. I was confused in that period, so I wanted to talk about it linking it with the poem of Montale which is connected with the bad living.
I've started with a brief on what was for me the confusion, about what I felt. And this is what I've wrote on my notes:
Loss is a journey. It is a road that runs without having a focus. At the beginning it is always unknown, but as the loss progresses, it turns out that it has left a long road behind. And when you turn around, it turns out that all that round was not by accident.
Getting lost is a phase. A way out, an alternative, indeed many. It's like being in a centrifuge that turns into a maze. Where the only security is lost: panic.
And then you have to manage it. Such as? Choosing a still unknown direction. The pages of life are numbered, formally, never the content is in order. To recover your mind you have to concentrate on one thing, otherwise you leave the road and the worst arrives.
But there is no depression in this theme; there is alteration.
I am looking for money and love, but the more you look for them, the more they escape. They come by themselves. The way you leave behind as you follow something vague is the loss. The heat, the sense of fullness, not drinking water, not eating fruit and vegetables do not do sport and physical activity, they are physical incentives to the loss, which feed it because it remains immobile. You are forced to go on because the feeling is that all the past, all the way of the past, has been in vain crumbled.
Loss occurs during the pursuit of its objectives. Nothing is canceled. There is only the present, and the more we enjoy the moment, the better we are. But if this feeling good is inconvenient, it is transmitted at a loss. There is an alchemy. Because the thing that creates panic is the awareness of being lost. The place you are in is no longer convenient. It is alchemic because it is a "stay" and "do not stay". It is an altered state. It's water, yes, but it boils and boils.
We are all lost in social networks, only we do not notice it. I do yes, and a lot. We are continuously DISTRACED and the order is lost. There is no longer a PATTERN.
It goes out of the lines. It is us and the others, and we are nothing without the others. The foundations are lost.

So I was asking myself what was the best way to express it graphically and making the project writing it by myself was the best answer. The feeling was a stream of consciousness, so I started drawing some pages.
After this other brief, I had to decide which format was the best. So I've decided that a squared 14,5 cm x 14,5 cm was the best solution. Then I've made a map of the project (which it was pretty confusing too) to understand better the right order of the drawings.
And it's composed by four parts like the poem. Each part has got a drawn symbol (snake, birds, ants and walls) which represents an element of the poem. There's a video preview of what I've made.

During the deciding of the format, I discovered that these pages folded were making pyramids. So I wanted to keep this like a symbol because in the book of Paulo Coelho: The Alchemist, Santiago the protagonist follows his dream: reach the pyramids in Morocco.
Some parts are touchable like this one. You can feel some parts are relief to express a disruption feeling.

The purpose of the project is to make people aware of mine and their confusion. Because if you are confused on something it means you're making some serious decisions with the life or a project in general. At the end of the journey (my book as a metaphor) you'll complete the first accomplish of your aim: making the four pyramids.
