iPhone 6 charging dock
Buying a iPhone charging dock is not cheap, why not make one by yourself?
Instead of just a making a “charging dock”，I tried to attach some meanings o n it.
Here is the story:
Nowadays, we are so obsessed by our smart phone.we spend an average of 6 hours per day on our mobile phones The only time we can leave it is the time when during sleep, though smart phone tries so hard to fight with this period of time.
Let’s go extreme. I wonder if there is a way that we can stick to our smart phone for the whole 24 hours? Even at the time when we are sleeping, the time it was charging?
Remember, never ever leave your smart phone!
First, I found some wood pieces in the junk shop.
I connect 2 pieces of wood together by using the wood glue.
Use both bastard file and smooth file.
Then, make a hole for the cable. I can just use my broken cable~
Make a tunnel for the line to go through.
It fits the iPhone 6 very well.
Here is the most interesting part. In order to make it alive. I design a character which can play with your smart phone.
A human is hugging your phone~He is so obsessed!
I think acrylic is the best material to make this poor little guy.
So, I bought an acrylic board, design the shape in Adobe Illustrator, then laser cut it on the machine.
After this, I bend it by using the heating machine. Sorry for forgetting to document this process.
Next, I want to make it even more fancy and interactive.
I add lights under the acrylic board, hack a button under the phone.
When you plug your phone in, the phone can exactly push the button down and hold the button to light the LEDs up.
Final work
The circuit in this device is super easy. I did not use any sensor or MCU. But I can definitely do it to make it more smart.
Maybe, I can get the time when the charging process is done, and the light will go off.
Maybe I can blink the LEDs to make the guys colorful.
