‘Beyond Pink: A Mission For Gender Equality’ is a documentary written, shot, and edited, by CART juniors and seniors about Women’s rights and gender equality, based in the central valley. The idea behind it was to shed some light on some of the issues women still face even in today's society even though on paper we are supposed to be equal, however such is not the case. Topics such as reproductive rights and other laws regarding women are discussed in detail and highlighted to give the audience a sense of knowledge on the topic.

I opened my original scene of editing with a clip of my interview subject saying words of empowerment. Then I followed it with a shot of visual action to fit with the audio and then inserted some more b-roll videos and images. I used some fade-in fade-out transitions in my final edits to make the transitions from different scenes to appear smoother and less abrupt. Some images were zoomed into to add a sort of effect, or a visual ride of focus, for the viewers. It was meant to direct their focus after seeing the whole image. More b-roll shots were inserted to better portray the message of the documentary. Clips of the interview were added when necessary to show what someone with personal experience has to say about the idea of the topic.

For my section of this documentary I wanted to give off more of a serious tone rather than fun or playful since we chose to discuss a serious topic. The music I used was called “March To Victory” which I think was fitting since my documentary had images from Women’s Marches. I also chose to have parts of my interview audio overlapping B-Roll because I didn’t want there to be too much A-Roll, or interview footage but I still wanted what was said to be heard. I used the warp stabilizer function from Adobe Premiere Pro to make my B-Roll still because it was originally too shaky for my liking.

I wanted the logo to be simple. The word Pink is bolded to show importance on the topic. The female gender sign have the representation of women’s rights and feminism.

I chose a purple color theme to show that it isn’t seen feminine or masculine, that it isn’t one sided even though it overview women's’ issues. I wanted the color to promote equality. I used Adobe Illustrator to create the people in my infographic. I mainly use the shape tools and gradient.

I wanted the logo to carry the stereotypical feminine style and color pink because there is a lot more to women than what's on the surface, such as common things that people associate with women. Besides, there is more to women beyond what's expected of them.

I had the color scheme the reflect the color scheme for the Beyond Pink logo. I worked to create a balance between graphics and written information since I wanted to have a more artistic approach to the display of information rather than having larger blocks of text taking up most of the space. I believe this infographic displays the information in a creative and informative way that will make sense to the viewer.
