Part 1:
"Elder Avenue Instrumental"

This was the first part of the Trilogy. Liberty originally comes from Elder Ave. Bronx, NYC. For this reason, she used her talent of making beats, to create a sound that represents her culture. This was a sound with a Disco beat mixed in with others throughout the track.

Cover Art:
This was a part of the Instrumental, created by Marilen Cruz Garcia.
To create a visual behind the music.
Part 2:
Newark Poem

The Newark Poem is the second part of this Trilogy. I wrote this poem to tell a brief story about where I came from, and my past and present experiences in the City of Newark. All, which makes up a part of my culture.
Trilogy: Newark’s Culture

It all began in the womb,

A tiny human I was, developing, growing, flourishing at it’s best.

Created by ‘Brown’ Mom and Dad.
Down in North Carolina. Yup, that was way before this experience of culture.

Way before my experience of taste, that certain way of living, the WHOLE enchilada.

At age 1, we made our way up from the carolinas up to what they call Brick City...you already know what it is!

Right then and there I’ve had my experiences.

From the Icee trucks that attracted little kids like myself, from that chime and tune of that bell on hot, sweaty days after school.

To those lively and fun block parties where you can soak in ALL of that Black Urban-flavored culture, as a sponge would.

Oh yall thought I was done? It only gets better from there!
Now listen carefully as I take yall closer to this cultural experience.

Art. A word that comes in many forms. Come visit Newark and you will see just what I’m talking about. A city full of masterpieces such as the:

East Coast Gateways to Newark Portraits.

All of this art spat out onto a wall on display: Blue, Green, yellow, and the colors go on.

1.39 miles of Art on a wall. Now go ahead and tell me that isn’t part of our culture.

Newark is like our own big canvas of Art, and culture. The music, the people, Penn Station, Prudential Center, City Hall, Jam-packed Festivals...I mean...we’ve got it all!

We’ve got culture.
Just visit and see.

Part 3:
Digital Illustration - HOPE

As the last phase of the Trilogy of Culture, Marilen incorporated her talents of drawing, by drawing the original piece, and then bringing it to life with color, digitally.
