Traditional Book Design (2018)

In my Typography I class, we were asked to select and traditional piece of writing and design twenty page version of the book as you would like it depicted. We focused on kerning, leading, and more new knowledge on typography. During this project, we also learned about margin cannons to place the text and the order of the first few pages such as the title page and half title page. I decided to redesign the Scarlet Letter. I chose Arno Pro in the size of ten for a book that is 5"x7". For my cover I continued to use Arno Pro for the title and the authors name, and I also included an embossing of the letter "A" in Old English. We also learned to properly bind a book and other techniques to strengthen our craft.
