Mouvo is a festival organised by the Oficina studio and presenting motion design in all of its forms. As an ubiquitous and dynamic creative field, combining graphic design, animation, video, special effects and new technologies. Mouvo festival is a meeting hub for all the visual thinkers, creative talents and producers from around the world, who are eager to learn, inspire and to be inspired. With the festival, Prague is set to experience motion design at its best. Every time Mouvo introduces an all-star line up featuring world-class authors and outlets. The festival also received the Czech Grand Design award for the graphic design of the year 2016.

Mouvo is the abbreviation for Mouches Volantes, or simply floaters. This phenomena is the core principle and concept of the festival's visual identity. Those stringy tiny spots floating in your field of vision. Motion design made by human eye. The ubiquitous constant tiny motion that your eyes can't get rid of.

“Floaters are deposits of various size, shape, consistency, refractive index, and motility within the eye's vitreous humour, which is normally transparent. Floaters are visible because of the shadows they cast on the retina or refraction of the light that passes through them, and can appear alone or together with several others in one's visual field. They may appear as spots, threads, or fragments of cobwebs, which float slowly before the observer's eyes. As these objects exist within the eye itself, they are not optical illusions but are entoptic phenomena.”

Mouvo 2018

The third edition of the festival focused on the specifics of the interdisciplinary overlaps in which motion design originates: on the creative process that builds on the principle of cooperation above and beyond a genre-specific box. We've also developed an interactive app where visitors of the festival website could have played with elements of the visual style and create their own poster designs with endless possibilities.

Mouvo 2017

The second Mouvo was an extra evening longer and moved to a bigger venue of the Archa Theater in Prague. The theme of the event was the Future of Motion Design offering a diverse line-up of visionaries covering all the important topics regarding the industry's future possibilities. The visual identity of the year was inspired by the idea of future and a time machine.

Mouvo 2016

The initial festival event in March 2016 was successfully sold out and set the bar really high. It presented great speakers to the Czech audience. Danny Yount, Mark Porter or Sander van Dijk to name a few. The festival main theme was motion design itself and its different forms. It included a discussion panel focused on defining the term and field of motion design for the Czech audience.

Festival Merch

We've extended the festival identity to a range of merchandising products we like ourselves. We used our favourite moments from the festival openers or simply just a design that is based on the core of the identity and logo. All items are made as a limited edition of 50 pieces. Mouvo Machine

We've developed our own message board so the festival visitors could have some fun during breaks. Or share a wi-fi password when needed. All messages are set in the visual style of the current festival year and also in motion.
