Empire of the Sun - Concert Visuals

Motion Graphics

Concert visuals for the Empire of the Sun's debut live performances.
The project involved breaking down the band's ambitious filmic narrative into the 10 songs.

Mathematics produced the project and brought me in early on to develop the design for the visuals and create the majority of the 2D and 3D animation

"The Emperor is born from a computer, created by masked scientists, they then go about creating his muse, living a happy life together they travel the known universe. But the Emperor soon grows bored of this and starts to explore the metaphysical, first traveling to a heavenly euphoric place before finding himself in a dark menacing one. As the show changes pace, we discover that the scientists have actually been manipulating the different worlds of the Emperor. Back with the emperor the scientists send his further and faster though time, to strange digital worlds, before we end up at the climax of the show and a home in the stars. "

The show debuted at the 2009 Park Life festival, touring around Australia and New Zealand, before heading to the UK, Europe and America, including Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and Coachella 2011
