Akeneo- Franklin Insights

A new feature which represents the integration between Sigmento technology and 

Akeneo PIM (product information management).

- Building new feature inside crystallized existing product - Akeneo PIM product is a massive and complex product, which built for couple of years before. Moreover, all the components we could use already existed and not flexible.

- We needed to integrate between the different current settings screens and still keep the UX clear and simple, so the user will react and use the feature intuitively.

- The usage of the feature is a massive generic edit and affects million of products for each click. We needed to make the user feel safe during the process.

- Researching of all the product’s components and their current use, in order to define which of them can help us to build the best UX for our users. Also, find our potential personas which will use the upcoming Franklin feature.

- Connecting between the different screens - We used the help box in the top of the screens to explain every step in Franklin process. Plus, we added a link to the next step.
As a result the user felt he was in ongoing process and was keeped in it until he got the expected result.

- We designed the mas edit action on a overlay layout, which disconnects the user from the other screens options and allow him to concentrate on this specific action.

Also we divided the process to 3 different steps to make sure that unwanted actions will happen without user’s confirmation.

- We created a visual character for Franklin - We presented Franklin as a cute robot guider which helps users to go over the process, and propose them information in the future. This character presence from the beginning of the process, makes it more fun and pleasant. In addition, it provides the user the feeling that we are on their side.
