Inspired by the designer Tom Whalen:
The task given to us, was to re-create a movie or series poster of our choice in the style of Tom Whalen through use of graphical elements, colour and layout. My final Breaking Bad poster is in this style and I enjoyed studying Tom Whalen and using his style in my own designs.
The above display is of 4 smaller postcards which had to include a gradient background and had a restricted colour scheme as well as having to keep the Tom Whalen style design.
Live Brief with Dartford F.C:
With this project we were given a live brief with the local football club, Dartford FC, who had come to us and asked if the design department could design them a new logo as they felt their current one was outdated. The design had to fit in with various backgrounds such as team kits, leaflets and buildings whilst keeping their preferred colour scheme of black and white with the third colour being the red shown. The club then displayed everyone's work on notice boards for the public to vote on who's they felt was the best. Out of the two year groups that entered my design above was voted as 4th best design. I enjoyed the pressures of working on a live project with a specific brief from the club themselves.
London Underground:
This project was my very first digital designs made through Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, since this I have improved and expanded all skills and am able to produce more high quality, aesthetically pleasing pieces of work. but the designs above were to be displayed within the tubes above the seats of people. Advertising the sites and attractions within London with the tube stations that where closest to them so people or tourists know how to get there. I choose to use restrictive, yet contrasting colour scheme on this project.
Record Sleeves / Album Covers:
Once given a song I had to design two record sleeves relevant to the lyrics within the song, or that showed a relevant link to its name.  For my project I choose to focus the design on ash falling or the explosion affect of a volcano.
The first album cover is the explosion affect of a volcano with typography edited in after.
All photography is my own, I recorded in slow motion myself throwing flour onto black card and when rewatching it took snap shots of the impact of it hitting the card which produced this explosion type effect, meaning all I had to do then was change the colour and transparency of text.
The second album cover is representing the ash falling after a volcanic explosion, for this I again used my own photography incorporating two different photographs, using the photoshop and illustrator software to edit and combine the images, and then add the shadow effect. I used a different style of typography for the title and band name.
Branding Project:
This project meant we could choose from a list of options, I choose to create a brand and identity for an independent coffee shop, in my local town.  As I had limited knowledge of coffee shops this project meant I needed to complete focused research.  For this I used questionnaires, visited different types of coffee shops, watched different advertisements and visited the London Coffee Show in Brick Lane.  I also investigated different typography and illustrations, as well as what people and commuters wanted in my town from a coffee shop.  Naming the brand was the hardest aspect and although I didn't personally like the name, it was voted by the public as the best for an independent local coffee shop. Once a name was decided I then had to research and experiment to find the best typography that worked alongside the logo.  I opted for the darker colours as it represented coffee itself. Alongside this I researched other promotional products, such as the use of a loyalty system both card and app.  I also designed and then made an in-store standee, promotional cups and napkin rings to be used as promotional material.
16 Page Magazine/ Photography & Typography:
The design brief given to us was to create a digital magazine including cover and back page focussing on our given topic by our peers. My topic was Night&Light, whereby i had to go and capture images at night before editing them on the software such as Photoshop and Lightroom. The inspiration i gathered was from existing magazine designs on Pintrest but had challenged myself int replicating it but with my own imagery and style. we were also told to try to be experimental with our typography and how the graphical elements can be used effectively.

Poster Series Advertising a Travel Company (Greenwich):
This is the first project of my Level 4 Graphic Design course, where we were given the brief underlining the outcomes, that being a minimum of 3 poster designs with illustration and graphical elements included, alongside a clear colour scheme or layout with typography. My illustrations where from images we gathered on our trip to Greenwich and the stock images from UnSplash were used here as a background for within the main focal frames.
