Living In The Moment

I went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in December last year (2012), and while I was there I shot some of my most personal work to date. The idea I had behind this personal project was based on a subject that’s close to me of “being in the moment”, and while the premiss might sound simple, the concept quickly branched out into several different areas.

I always had these images in my mind preconceived long before I had even step foot into Kuala Lumpur from start to finish, I had even talked about these shots as if I could have planned them, but of course that wasn’t possible, (but it turned out pretty much it planned itself out) it was just about being in a different place and time, and having met some great people along the way, that allowed me to execute these ideas one by one and bring them to life.

The idea of living life in the moment quickly became a hunger for knowledge, visually. It wasn’t just life in the moment that I was simply capturing, I was inspired by my own philosophical ideas and questions, cultural identity, society and sociality, it all came into play and it all managed to merge into one another, it wasn’t just about capturing a moment any longer, it started to represent a part of myself in these images, and I feel that this could be a continuing project I would like to continue with.
