Transforming Fears to Cheers

NARRATIVE 1
VISIT TO THE DENTIST
The first narrative is based on a visit to the dentist. The girl in the narrative doesn’t brush her teeth due to which her tooth gets decayed and she is not able to eat anything. This narrative is trying to tell the children that in order to be able to eat sweets or anything for that matter, they must brush their teeth before and after sleeping. If they do not, they will have to face consequences. Here, the dentist is just helping the girl to eat her favourite food, not harming her in any way.
NARRATIVE 2
STOMACH ACHE
Through this narrative, the children will learn and understand that the doctor is someone who is trying to help you get better and not harming anybody. They need to take medicines on time and complete the dose after visiting a doctor in order to feel better. The treatment doesn’t get over just by paying visit to a doctor.
NARRATIVE 3
COUGH AND COLD
This story teaches the children that anything in access does not do any good to the body. If they consume too much junk food like chips, cold drink, fries, etc., it will prove harmful to the body. Here again, the narrative is making the children familiar to the check up that the doctor does while prescribing medicines for a cough or cold. The doctor prescribes medicines to the child, the child has to take them regularly and only then will he or she feel better.
NARRATIVE 4
VISIT TO THE EYE DOCTOR
This narrative deals with making the children familiar with the procedures that take place when they visit an ophthalmologist.
The child also learns that watching too much television can result into problems like headaches, eye pain, etc. and that everything should be carried out in moderation.

Working towards the final prototype-
Distributed 1000 free comics of the above narratives at the Bal Bhavan as a part of the Children's Day Celebrations that were organised by the Govt. of Karnataka.
