Since 2015, I have been to Kenya three times. Last one I lived more than one month in Kawangware which turned out to be an amazing place for me. A positive perspective on the slums as people and the community was born in my mind...

Kawangware is a slum in NairobiKenya - about 15 km west of the city centre, between Lavington and Dagoretti.

According to the 2018  Kawangware's population was 155,286 people at this time. It is estimated that 65% of the population are children and youths. Most inhabitants live on less than $1 (although they earn in shillings) a day and unemployment is high; many are self-employed traders. There is a diversity of ethnic backgrounds. 42 tribes live in Kenya.
